How To Sell Faster

Let's get straight into it, here are the 3 core principles of how to sell faster:

Ideal Customer Profile

Picking the right customer is half the battle.

So many founders waste months/years talking to the wrong customer.

Here is how you define your ICP for a B2B business:

  1. Job Title
  2. Company Revenue
  3. Company Headcount
  4. Company Geography
  5. Company Business Vertical/Industry
  6. Company Funding Stage

As you sell, you will learn which permutation/combination of these 6 parameters gives you the best sales performance. Double down on that to grow efficiently.

Strategic Narrative

After you have an initial understanding of your market, i.e., online research and talking to customers in your ICP, you can create a strategic narrative that resonates with your ICP.

The Hero’s Journey framework is the most commonly used structure for creating strategic narratives.

Here are the 5 critical pieces of a strategic narrative:

  1. What is your ICP’s desired goal/destination?
  2. Why are you the right mentor to guide the ICP to the destination?
  3. What are the key challenges the hero must overcome along the way?
  4. What is the old way vs. the new way of solving the problem?
  5. Your recommended strategy to get to the destination/goal.

Once you have your strategic narrative down, you will achieve message market fit.

With message market fit, your customers will understand your value to them, way way faster.

The Offer

Your sales offer is what's going to convince potential customers to buy from you.

So it's crucial to get it right...

But what makes a great sales offer? How can you create an offer that is irresistible to your target audience?

Here are 3 principles to help you make a great sales offer:

  1. Offer high value. Your sales offer should be so valuable that your ICP can't resist it. This means offering your product or service at a price that is a no-brainer to your customer. Do not price so low that you are perceived as low value, but when you're new, price a bit under your competition.
  2. Create a sense of urgency. One of the best ways to get people to buy is to create a sense of urgency. I don't like exploding offers, instead, I love to create urgency by educating my customers about the painful downside of not buying my services.
  3. Use social proof. People are more likely to buy from you if they see that other people have already bought from you and been happy with their purchase. Referral sales close at a staggering 70% rate according to Hubspot!

If your offer makes a purchase a no-brainer, there is no reason for the customer to wait.

However, if you have a nutty/high-priced offer, it might take weeks/months to get a yes.
